Requesting a PC to be added to the wired RDC network
If your PC is already on BlueAD, please simply submit a RDC Migration Issues request in the Helpdesk Portal.
Blue AD computers have a sticker with device name of the format phy-0123-abc
If your computer does not have a sticker on it, it’s unlikely to be on BlueAD, and therefore needs to have security policies deployed. You must be aware of the University’s Acceptable Use Policy as a user of University computing facilities. Please ensure you are at least familiar with the regulations and wider concepts laid out within before you continue.
What will happen
You will need to bring the computer to IT office C2.002 in the RDC, so please make sure your computer is ready to move if a desktop
We will add your PC to BlueAD even if you are using a local account. Please be aware that local administrator accounts are only permitted in exceptional circumstances (so far none have been identified), so please be prepared for this.
You can still use your local user account to run the machine, but it will only have basic user permissions. If you have not done so already, we strongly recommend that you install the MS OneDrive app
We will ensure your computer runs the security policies which are deployed as part of joining BlueAD
You must then make preparations to move your data into OneDrive, this means that when you log in with your CRSid, your documents will sync when you sign into OneDrive
Please continue to the RDC Migration Issues request in the Helpdesk Portal if you wish to connect your computer using Ethernet
